Why this song doesn’t suck: “The Kaleidoscope God” is a 7 minute rocker that shows off the band’s chops perfectly. It has diversity, Christian’s amazing vocal work, and a bit past the halfway mark, a nice change-up that brings a grin to my face that any lameass breakdown could never possess me to crack. While I know these guys are a bit trendy sounding for some, and I have to admit I was underwhelmed by their live performance, I still love every album they’ve released so far. Sadly, after 2008′s Holographic Universe was released, Christian left the band to persue other musical ventures. If the fact that the remaining members of the band had to hire two new singers, one for the death vocals and another for the clean, isn’t proof that they had one hell of a previous singer, I don’t know what is. Either way, I still look forward to hearing what these guys have to offer in the future. Official Website: www.scarsymmetry.com |

I absolutely hated these guys live, and have refused to listen to them on album because of that. This song didn’t do much to change that, really. Though thats more to do with me being incredibly bored with melodeath as of late rather than it just being shitty.
