Smart. Crocodile. Zombies.
June 16th, 2008 12:29 am

Crombie Attacks!!This past Friday night, while drinking numerous delicious beers and shooting the shit with some friends, I learned that some people have much more interesting dreams than I do. While I’m not surprised by this considering I often can’t remember my dreams an entire 5 minutes after waking up (leading me to believe they must have been pretty dull), I’m still a bit jealous. I mean damn… it seems some people have an incredibly vivid imagination even when they’re not awake to use it.

Example 1: Angela dreamt that she shit flies. Yes, flies. The end. Sorry Angela.

Example 2: Rebecca had a vivid dream in which only she, I, and our friend Josh survived a world-wide zombie outbreak. Pretty standard stuff, right? No. These weren’t your average zombies… hell, they weren’t even human. These were smart crocodile zombies! Zombidiles (as I like to call them) that came into being when some pesky Al Quedas dumped the dead body of Saddam Heissen into Buckingham Palace’s (non-existent) moat, thus turning all of the crocodiles contained in said moat into the intelligent undead simply from ingesting the pure concentrated evil within his blood.

Two words: KICK. ASS.

At least now we know what WMD’s he was hiding… it was the zombie juice coursing through his veins!

I call movie rights!

I know, I know… I seem to have a thing for cellos. Well, when it comes to interesting song covers on the web, the cello is the current instrument of choice (and shall remain so for all time if I had my way). Take a listen to TimCelliste’s cello-tized version of Muse’s Knights of Cydonia (a.k.a. that one song everyone loves but never heard of until they played Guitar Hero 3):

New Heavy Metal Geek Merch

Heavy Metal GeekWhile the content for HeavyMetalGeek.com may still be in the works at the moment, I took some time this weekend to create a logo for my new endeavor. I thought others may enjoy this for uses outside of just the website… say, to show off their headbangingly awesome geekitude. Thus, I’ve opened up my first CafePress webstore where, if people were so inclined, they could purchase a shirt exclaiming that while they may be a huge (sometimes socially awkward) geek, they know how to rock and roll with the best of ‘em! More designs on the way, and if anyone has any feedback on this particular design, feel free to comment or send an e-mail my way.

Continue reading to check out some additional designs…

Last Saturday my eardrums were graced with the sweet sound of pure grade-a rock ‘n’ roll infused with the cheer of thousands as I attended the Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers / Steve Winwood show at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Now, considering I was given the tickets for free and the seats were quite excellent (half court, row C), I’d have to say the night as a whole was pretty damn good.

My friend Rachel won a pair of tickets off the radio a bit after she bought some tickets for herself, her sister and mom. Now, while I was very appreciative of getting the tickets, I did feel a bit bad that the tickets she won were considerably better than the ones she bought. But alas, her brother-in-law Travis and I were 2 people while they were 3. We win.

Tom Petty\'s StageWe got to the Palace about an hour before the show, and jesus, was it busy. I hadn’t been to a show this large in years, and it felt strange wading through such an enormous crowd to get into the stadium and to our seats. This feeling certainly didn’t fade when Travis and I took our seats and I was able to take in the enormity of the place. Thousands of people had gathered here with only one thing in mind: to ROCK and freakin’ ROLL. We sat for a bit waiting for the show to start and discussed, for the majority of the time, the band’s stage setup. To the back of the stage there was what appeared to be a large metal “tree” of sorts covered in LED lights, holding LED screens and some odd hanging cubes. It turned out that the company Travis worked for designed and created much of the lighting equipment set up at the show that night and he went through all of the pieces that were being used.

Before long, and even before the seats seemed to be half-filled, the lights dimmed and the place erupted in applause. The lights came up on stage and out walked Steve Winwood accompanied by his band.

I really enjoyed this Piano rendition of “3 Libras” by A Perfect Circle and I hope you do as well. It has a very soothing quality to it that the original version has as well. Make sure to visit thumphrey05’s profile page to see numerous more samplings of his work.
